Revisiting the Image: Year 2.

Looking back at my first year in nursing, Ive released that there is much more than just building connections with your other staff members, I believe that with the knowledge we will gain over the next two years, it is crucially important to build connections and be able to comfort and sympathies with your patient but not get too close with the relationship at hand. As we have all heard, building relationships with patients can be difficult wether the patient at hand is beyond thankful for the work your providing or if they despise you, each patient should be treated with the same amount of care and respect. Ive recognized that building a relationship can be just as easy as it can be difficult but with our education, I strongly believe everyone is able to thrive within this aspect of professionalism in nursing. Without this skill, people risk their license as well as moral boundaries. Ive been thankful to have learned of these skills as I like to think I am very much a “people pleaser” but by respecting the code of ethics, Ive gained the knowledge to understand why these relationships can become tricky and quickly turn for the worst. I am very much looking forward to the next two years to gain some hands on experience with patients especially being able to fully understand why Ive chosen to do what I am pursuing.
