Learning Outcome 1
When looking back on work produced earlier in the semester, we were asked to save several drafts of our writing in the assumption we will look back and be able to see how much we have progressed as our writer. In paper 2, we had compared David Foster Wallace’s essay to others we had read such as what the crows know in an attempt to gain a deeper understanding of Wallace’s everlasting question of “is it truly okay to kill and consume our food?” When looking back on project 2, In the thousand word draft, I feel as If My structuring of the essay was very broad and I left a lot of room for details such as my thesis. I felt like I never really made a clear argument but after we had looked at other essays and generated ideas along with feedback from our peers, I was able to concise my essay, especially my thesis statement, to create a much more clear argument. another example is when I was choosing quotes, I had always struggled to find quotes as I felt like they had never truly related to the argument I was trying to pose but like my thesis, after peer review I felt like I had much more context to work with especially after looking and going through the comments of my paper. after I had corrected these mistakes I had found my paper was flowing much smoother especially where my transitions had occurred. I was thankful we were able to do these peer reviews especially after reading the before and after products of when the essay had its comments and when the essay had been finally drafted.
