Learning Outcome 4
As we had kicked off this year and read through the syllabus, I was wondering how this learning outcome would have been achieved and my question was shortly answered. Throughout the year we had reviewed our peers’ essays and offered constructive criticism on how we thought the paper could have been improved. In high school, we had done something similar but at the same time it was completely different. a year ago If I had been asked to peer review, I would have hoped it was one of my buddies I could offer a useless comment to and be able to say, yes I’ve completed the peer review. but today it means much more to me than in my old ways. Today I understand the importance of peer review and am able to offer comments to other people’s papers with confidence. The importance of this to me was being able to put my own work along with the work of others into perspective by stepping away from my own mind and entering small portions of others. An example of where I was able to do this was in one of my peers’ essays, Thea. In her essay I had offered several comments as to where if she continued to go more in depth with her quotes, she could have elaborated more to make a solid and strong argument. This additionally was helpful in my essays as I was able to get ideas and understandings of how I could strengthen my essay.
